Roger established the Animal Behaviour Centre in 1979. Behaviour consultations available at our centre or at home by veterinary referral.
Roger shares his life with P.C., a Battersea special and Snap, a Border Collie.
Dr Candy d'Sa
Behavioural Scientist and expert witness in animal related legal issues.
Member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC).
Candy has been involved with wildlife conservation projects for several years, most notably working for the IUCN Canid Specialist Group, studying the behaviour of the wild and domestic dog family through both academic research and fieldwork.
She also specialises in domestic cat ecology and behaviour. Candy joined us in June 2003, having completed her PhD and sees clients both at our centre or at home by veterinary referral.
Candy shares her life with Ellie, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Selva, an ex-feral domestic shorthaired cat, and Ky an African Grey Parrot.
Fiona Whelan
Behaviour specialist.
Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT member number 000273).
Fiona ran her own training and behaviour establishment in her home town of Lincoln for 7 years before joining us in February 2002. Fiona shares her life with 3 dogs; Enzo a crossbreed, and Noux and Sancho who are both Australian Cattle Dogs. She regularly competes at agility competitions and has also shown Noux at Crufts.
Fiona was the centre's manager, behaviour specialist and head trainer until December 2007 when she re-located to Yorkshire where she is now available to see clients. She also continues to travel to Surrey to spend 2 days a week seeing behaviour consultations and providing continued support to her many clients.
Karen Hill
Practice Manager.
Karen has worked at the centre since 1989 and is responsible for giving initial behaviour advice, booking appointments for clients and ensuring the smooth running of the clinic.
She runs the Puppy Playgroup which was founded in 1979.
Sarah Godfrey
Head Trainer.
Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT member number 000930).
Sarah has achieved a certificate in Advanced Training and Behaviour with The Centre of Applied Pet Ethology (COAPE). Sarah is taking a part time degree course in Psychology at Birkbeck University in London. Sarah owns a blind Yorkshire Terrier called Billy.
Sarah teaches pet dog training at all levels from puppy to adult, as well as social skills classes, agility, private lessons, workshops and a fun Click-A-Trick class.
Sarah has worked at the centre since June 2001.
Lesley Slade
Trainer.
Lesley has run her own dog training club in Berkshire for over 20 years, teaching all levels of pet dog training from puppy to adult, agility and flyball.
She has 2 horses and 5 dogs; Topsy (Whippet x Terrier), Dizzie (now retired Golden Retriever), Swift (very fast Collie), Merry (completely mad Collie x Retriever) and Ace (brand new Collie pup). Lesley and her daughter Jenny regularly compete at agility and flyball competitions.
Lesley is keen to broaden her skills in all things dog related and is presently studying for a qualification in canine massage.
Lesley joined the centre in January 2008
Pauline Gloyens
Trainer
Originally from France, Pauline moved to England in 1991. She has been working at the centre since September 2006, and completed her training here. She teaches training classes and workshops, as well as seeing private clients.
Pauline is currently completing a course on canine training and behaviour with the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology
She has a special interest in clicker training which she enjoys perfecting with her own two dogs, a Black Labrador and a Brittany Spaniel.
Rosie Scott
Legal Secretary
Rosie joined the practice in September 2007, predominantly as Dr Mugford's legal secretary but also as an office assistant to help with the general duties within the Behaviour Centre.
Rosie grew up in Devon where she still has her pet sheep 'Rabbit' on the family farm. Rosie studied for her BSc in Psychology at the University of Reading, where she was awarded a First Class degree with honours. She has always had an interest in the psychology of animals from dogs, to sheep to stick insects and is keen to learn more.
