Training and behaviour expert, the Company of Animals, has long believed that pet owning is good for your health but this has now been proven with new research published in the Environmental Science and Technology journal.
UK researchers have found that just five-minutes walking in a green space, such as a park, can boost mental health and wellbeing, so dog walking is as good for you as it is for your dog. However, walking a dog who persistently pulls on the lead can be stressful and prevent you benefiting fully from the mental boost of ‘green’ exercise.
The Company of Animals has over 30 years experience dealing with all kinds of training and behaviour problems, and during this time it’s noticed that one of the most common issues dog owners have is their dog pulling on the lead. In fact, over 80 per cent of dog owners complain about their dog’s lead pulling.
World-renowned animal psychologist and founder of the Company of Animals, Dr Roger Mugford, invented the HALTI headcollar in response to the large number of pulling dogs he saw at his referral practice in Surrey. The HALTI has become a worldwide phenomenon helping owners take the lead when it comes to training and shows that, with the right training methods and dedication, even the most persistent puller can be helped.
The HALTI works on the simple principle that if you guide the head, the body must surely follow. It was the first canine headcollar and remains the world’s favourite because it is very easy to use and the design has been constantly refined with a dog’s comfort in mind.
Make sure your persistent puller is tamed for worry free walkies so you can give your mood a boost with some green exercise today.
