Training classes & workshops

At the Training and Behaviour Centre we believe that dog training should be fun for both dog and owner and set in an environment that reflects real life! Over thirty years of dog training experience has taught us that dogs need to be trained with distractions if they are to learn to listen to their owner on a walk. After all you don’t walk your dog in a village hall so why would you train in one?

What classes are available?

There are courses and classes to suit all; from tiny puppies to older dogs, basic training through to advanced as well as fun stuff such as agility, fly ball, click-a-trick and heelwork to music. For those with only one specific problem to address or you can't commit to regular group session, one to one sessions are available. But it doesn't have to stop there, once you have completed your initial training, you can continue to attend our 'pay as you go' training or social walks as little or as often as you wish to ensure your best friend doesn't slip back into any unruly habits!

Specialist classes are also available to help with dogs that are poorly socialised or are reactive around others. Our regular social skills group offers ongoing support and advice to help you and your dog relax and enjoy the company of others.

When and where do the classes take place?

The majority of our training classes take place outside in our 100 acres of farmland. As well as all the sights and smells of the great outdoors, you will have the opportunity to teach your dog to behave around livestock as well as other dogs! Of course we have indoor facilities too for when the weather is less than kind and secure fenced paddocks for new starters or those who are still working on their control.

Classes are run all year round with daytime, evening and weekend sessions available.  All breeds of dog are welcome and so are all members of the family; children have the opportunity to join our Kid's Club during the school holidays.  Classes are kept small so that everyone receives plenty of individual attention.

Training methods are always adapted to suit the individual, but are all centred on modern, reward-based theories.  We want you to enjoy the time you spend training your dog and keep this special relationship positive!

Our team of trainers are all fully qualified, insured and well experienced in dealing with all sorts of training problems from the bizarre, the embarrassing to the downright dangerous. If you don't see what you want in our standard links then please contact us to discuss your individual requirements.
