Dr Roger Mugford and his team have been resolving behaviour problems in pets for over forty years, this wealth of experience along with sound scientific knowledge ensures that you and your pet are in safe hands when faced with problematic behaviour.
Whilst dog training classes are a good place to teach your pet good manners and obedience, they are not the place to deal with more complex behaviours. For these a more detailed assessment of the underlying cause of the problem needs to be carried out so that appropriate treatment can be advised. Many behaviour problems are due to a misunderstanding between dog and owner, lack of appropriate socialisation/habituation or even physical problems which may not be apparent to the owner.
The types of behaviour we can help with are:
- Aggression towards people
- Aggression towards other animals
- Inappropriate soiling
- Fearful behaviour
- Noise phobias
- Separation problems
- Destructive behaviour
Sessions may be a ‘one off’ or you can continue with as many sessions as you require in your own timescale.
STEP 1: All behaviour consultations start with a referral from your veterinary surgeon; this is an important first step to ensure any possible underlying clinical causes are explored before behavioural therapy starts.
STEP 2: Following your referral, a Skype consultation can be booked either online or by telephone with one of our behaviour consultants.
STEP 3: Once your consultation has been booked, you will receive confirmation of your appointment by e-mail. Within your confirmation letter there will be a link to a history form for you to complete and return prior to your consultation.
During the call, our behaviour consultant will listen carefully to understand the concerns you have regarding your dog’s behaviour. An advantage of the consultant not being present with your dog is that it gives them the ability to observe him without affecting his behaviour.
You are able to record Skype calls at no extra cost to download and watch at your leisure.
The cost for this service is £96.00 per hour. Our behaviour consultants are full members of the CFBA, as such many pet insurance companies will cover these costs. Once your session has been booked we will make contact with you via email to obtain your Skype details.
We can also offer this service for other pets and via telephone. Please contact us for further details or to arrange an appointment at firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01932 574293
